Volunteer
Volunteers are an integral part of our team! Our volunteers help our staff provide compassionate care and solutions for children and families impacted by homelessness in our community. We are always seeking more volunteers to join the hope movement!
Volunteer opportunities include:
Early Learning Center Classroom Volunteer
Assist our teachers in an ELC classroom with supervision and education of young children, including reading and playing, classroom activities, and administrative support. Volunteers are needed in this role between 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday.
Admin Building Host
Welcome visitors, answer phones, assist with administrative tasks, accept donations, and keep our office spaces looking clean and tidy. Volunteers are needed in this role between 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday.
Shelter Host
Support the staff in our Family Shelter by answering phones and providing information to potential clients, assisting with administrative tasks, accepting donations, and helping families access our food and hygiene pantry. Volunteers are needed in this role between 9:00 AM–12:00 PM or 1:00 PM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
Shelter Family Programming
Assist our Family Programming Coordinator with planning and leading events and activities for the children and families living in our shelter. Volunteers will typically be needed on Friday evenings.
Donation Sorter
Work in a small team to help sort in-kind donations (towels, blankets, dishes, cookware, etc.) and help keep our donation pantries organized and tidy. Volunteers can expect to serve once a week for 2–3 hours, Monday–Friday.
Move-Out Crew
Assist staff and families on days when a family exits our Family Shelter and moves into their own home, including packing boxes, loading vehicles, traveling with staff to the family's new home, unloading belongings, and then assisting staff with preparing the shelter for another family to arrive.
Hope Builders
Join our established team of volunteers who help keep our facilities functional and beautiful, including building maintenance, landscaping, IT support, and more! The Hope Builders meet for a few hours between 1:00 PM–5:00 PM every Wednesday afternoon.
Service Days
We may occasionally need volunteers to assist with a one-time project or a group work day. Most of these occur during our normal weekday business hours while staff are on site to provide direction, but there may be some occasional weekend or evening opportunities.
Special Events
We host two large annual fundraising events: a spring gala, usually in April, and a holiday tree festival in November. We also participate in some other community events through the year. We need several volunteers for various tasks leading up to and during each of these events. Some roles for these events will take place in the evening or on weekends.
We want you to be part of the hope movement in our community!
